Quote du Jour (2 4)

If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery

All my life there’s been one little rule that has worked wonderfully for me: If there’s any area of your life in which you are less than 50 percent happy, make an immediate change.
Mick Carlson, age 87

only god can judge me now. and another beer goes down the hatch, numbing the fact that tomorrow will come whether I like it or not, whether I'm smoked enough weed and simply forgot that I've responsibilities, people calling my name, leaving messages and red flashing lights, 20 grand invested, thriving corporate lifelittle more than a game...of politics and power struggles, of crushing the little guy, depending on the graduating youth to produce and provide, endless hours and endless weeks, American superpowers (nike) subjugating the weak, a brand new pair of sneakers for a hundred twenty five, boardrooms cheering, advertising success, let's wipe out another species, fcuk the world, it's already a dilapidated mess.. hoard as much as we can, find our saviour, search within, atone for decadence, debauchery and sin....nevermind the truth, redemption awaits, fixated on the firmament, home of the saints....Louisiana is in for a hell of a ride in less than five hours, people subject to the majestic terror of nature's absolute power, proof that the world was not made for man....and I take another swig of my beer, from the comforts of my loft, my thoughts are sincere, but my aim is way off.

potent power, intergalactic glory

"When the mind's eye rests on objects illuminated by truth and reality, it understands and comprehends them, and functions intelligently; but when it turns to the twilight world of change and decay, it can only form opinions, its vision is confused and its beliefs shifting, and it seems to lack intelligence." (Plato)

"What we need for understanding rational human behaviour - and indeed, animal behaviour - is something intermediate in character between perfect chance and perfect determinism - something intermediate between perfect clouds and perfects clocks." (Karl Popper)

merdi le 22 Auot du jour extravaganza

Still trying to uncover who this jobe kid is……

Quote’s du jour, a double dose:

“Life is always walking up to us and saying, “Come on in, the living’s fine,” and what do we do? Back off and take its picture.” Russell Baker

“I would rather have 30 minutes of “wonderful” than a lifetime of nothing special.” Julia Roberts

Book du jour:

A Wish Can Change Your Life: How to Use the Ancient Wisdom of Kabbalah to Make Your Dreams Come True

Jewelry du jour:

Tibetan Om Pendant

Soundtrack du jour:
(from the visually delicious, heart fiber pulling, true as true to life movie The Constant Gardener based on the novel by John Le Carre, filmed by the magnificent Fernando Meirelles whose City of God is a violent tour du force worthy of at least 2 viewings (I’ve always wanted to use that phrase).

"The Beatles were so fcuking high they let Ringo sing a few songs," aka Too 4 2uesday.

Bill Hicks passed away on Saturday the 26th of February 1994. He was a comic genius who chased his passion and developed the skills to bring that passion into fruition. I dedicate today's quotes to his legacy: cigarettes, booze, sex, drugs, politics, religion, rock & roll, and laughing his ass off all the while.

Children are smarter than any of us. Know how I know that? I don't know one child with a full time job and children.
Bill Hicks

I was in Nashville, Tennesee last year. After the show I went to a Waffle House. I'm not proud of it, I was hungry. And I'm alone, I'm eating and I'm reading a book, right? Waitress walks over to me: " Hey, whatchoo readin' for?"

Isn't that the weirdest fucking question you've ever heard? Not what am I reading, but what am I reading *for*? Well, godammit, ya stumped me! Why do I read? Well... hmmm... I dunno... I guess I read for a lot of reasons, and the main one is so I don't end up being a fucking waffle waitress.
Bill Hicks

rising from 20,000 leagues and trying not to get the bends...

Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.
Saint Augustine

The beauty myth moves for men as a mirage; its power lies in its ever-receding nature. When the gap is closed, the lover embraces only his own disillusion.
Herman Melville

R2A phz1 Day 3

Day 3 of a 40 Day Self Imposed Detox from Hangovers, Peer Pressure, &…….

3 thoughts for today…..

Spirituality

It is not because angels are holier than men or devils that makes them angels, but because they do not expect holiness from one another, but from God only.

William Blake

26 Years Young: aka “If I knew then, how I would have answered my high school ‘guidance counselor,’ instead of ‘make lots of $$ as an engineer.’

When I grow up, Gary, I want to be a perpetual student of the human condition. Well perpetual at least until I croak, like you will be doing very soon Mr. Iron Lung. Anywho. I want someone to pay for me to study the past, document the present, and imagine the fate of destiny’s future.

26 Years Young: aka “Dreams of Petra Singing this 2 Me” aka “How today’s reality truly seems to me,” aka “An Anthem for My Fellow Droogs”
